Also referred to as document sanitization or editing out, redaction refers to the removal of private information.
To help prevent identity theft and to ensure that specific client, financial, or legal information remains private, clients often request 3SG to redact information by permanently removing it from the electronic files after scanning. Redaction services may include, for example, removing social security numbers or private telephone numbers from the electronic images.

What is Secure Redaction?
Effective redaction of electronic documents requires the actual removal of the text or image data from the electronic file. Specialized software tools are designed for sanitizing electronic documents so that the redacted information cannot be retrieved at a later time.
This means there is no saved revision history of the edited text and no fragments of the previous versions of the text available. These advanced electronic techniques have replaced laying graphical elements (usually black rectangles) on top of text where the original text remains in the file.
